Happy Holidays and Announcement of Extended Holiday Date

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share an update that I hope brings a bit of extra joy and rest to you and your loved ones. In addition to our previously scheduled district closure on December 24 and 25, the Board of Education at its December 9 meeting approved our request to extend the districtwide closure to Friday, December 26. This additional day is a small but meaningful way to give every member of our SLPS family a little more time to recharge, be with family and friends, and enjoy the spirit of the season.

I also want to extend my deepest appreciation for everything you have done during what has truly been an extraordinary period for our district.

The months since the May 16 tornado have tested us in ways none of us could have anticipated. Yet throughout every challenge, you have shown remarkable resilience, professionalism, and compassion. You have supported our students, reassured our families, collaborated across buildings and departments, and continued to embody what it means to serve the children and community of St. Louis with heart and determination.

I could not be more proud of the work we have accomplished together, or more grateful for the way you have continued to show up for one another and for the students who depend on us. This team is the strength of SLPS, and I am honored to work beside you.

I wish each of you a peaceful, restorative, and joyful holiday season. May the time ahead bring you comfort, connection, and well-deserved rest. I look forward to returning in the new year with renewed energy and a shared commitment to building upon all we have achieved, and all that we will continue to accomplish- together!

Warmest regards,

Dr. Myra Berry
